Quiet and Listen – Wk 22

Our assignment this week is to go into silence for 2-3 days with no talking, no cell phone or TV, and no computer.  It becomes just you, your thoughts, and silence…but how can it be silence when your thinking is more intense than ever before.

This experience also collided with the reading of “Self-Reliance” by Ralph Waldo Emmerson, and listening to the recitation of “The Science of Getting Rich” by Wallace D. Wattles.

Basically, Emmerson challenges us to know ourselves internally in every way.  Don’t disregard the flash of thought that comes to our mind as it holds the truth revealed to you.  “In every work of genius we recognize our own rejected thoughts: they come back to us with a certain alienated majesty.”  Don’t dismiss them or tomorrow we may hear a stranger “say with masterly good sense precisely what we have thought and felt all the time, and we shall be forced to take with shame our own opinion from another.”

When we put our heart into our work and do our best, we experience a great accomplishment which gets layered upon other accomplishments; and this in turn builds confidence that the universe is full and good as God will not have his work manifested by cowards.

Trust thyself; every  heart vibrates to that iron string.  God gives each of us a specific and unique set of circumstances that make us who we are.  “Accept the place the divine providence has found for you, the society of your contemporaries, the connection of events.  Great men have always done so.”

We are reminded that to look upon the appearance of poverty will produce corresponding forms in your own mind unless you hold to the truth that there is no poverty; there is only abundance.  What we think about grows. Give more, get more.

God, the One substance, is trying to live and do and enjoy things through humanity.  He is saying, “I want hands to build wonderful structures, to play divine harmonies, to paint glorious pictures; I want feet to run my errands, eyes to see my beauties, tongues to tell mighty truths and sing marvelous songs.”  All that there is of possibility is seeking expression through men.

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28

Believe that there is one intelligence from which all things proceed.”
Believe that this power gives you everything you desire.
You relate yourself to it by a feeling of deep and profound gratitude.

“Draw nigh unto God and He will draw nigh onto you.”  You cannot exercise much power without gratitude; for it’s gratitude that keeps you connected with power.  When we fix our mind on the BEST is to surround yourself with the BEST, and then become the BEST.

Also, FAITH is born of GRATITUDE.  The grateful mind continually expects good things, and expectations becomes FAITH.  “Whatsoever things you ask for when ye pray, BELIEVE that ye receive them.”  Matthew 21:22

Put your whole mind into present ACTION.  Act NOW.  There is never anytime but now.  And there never will be anytime but now.  Don’t bother wondering whether yesterday’s work was well done or ill done; do today’s work well.  Do NOT try to do tomorrow’s work now; there will be plenty of time to do that when you get to it.  If there is something that may be done today, and you do not do it, you have failed in so far as that thing is concerned; and the consequences may be more disastrous than you imagine.

You  cannot foresee the results of even the most trivial act; you do not know the workings of all the forces that have been set moving in your behalf.   Much may be depending on your doing some simple act; it may be the very thing which is to open the door of opportunity to very great possibilities.  DO EVERY DAY ALL THAT CAN BE DONE THAT DAY!

Don’t over work
Don’t do tomorrow’s work today
Don’t do a week’s work in a day
Don’t be inefficient

I am still meditating on how to be more ‘efficient.’ But  I encourage you to put yourself on the list to take care of yourself.  This shows love you have for others that care for you; it shows that you matter; and that your story is important.  Yes, it is important to KNOW THYSELF.

Onward and Upward
